Video of the Year – “Look at Me Now” Chris Brown, the big winner of the evening, won four awards in total, three of which were related to his hit single “Look at Me Now,” including this one for Video of the Year.

Youngstars Awards – Willow Smith and Jaden Smith

The voting was too close to call, so siblings Willow and Jaden Smith finished tied and walked away with matching awards.

Best Female Hip Hop Artist – Nicki Minaj

Nicki Minaj scored another win for her Barbies after being named the Best Female Hip Hop Artist for the second year in a row.


Best Male R&B Artist – Chris Brown

F.A.M.E. not only proved to be a hit album for Chris Brown this year; its success also pushed him ahead of the competition in the Best Male R&B Artist category.

Best Collaboration – Chris Brown feat. Busta Rhymes and Lil Wayne “Look at Me Now”

Given Chris Brown’s dance moves, Busta Rhymes’ rapid-fire lyrics and Lil Wayne’s swagger on “Look at Me Now,” this victory was pretty much a lock.


Best Group – Diddy-Dirty Money

Diddy-Dirty Money proved to be the strongest crew this past year. Take that, take that! i love diddy but Travis porter shouldve won…


Best New Artist – Wiz Khalifa

Thanks to his platinum-plus-selling singles (“Roll Up” and “Black and Yellow”) and breakout debut album, Rolling Papers, this past year, Wiz Khalifa beat out Bruno Mars, Willow Smith, Miguel and J. Cole for the Best New Artist award.


Centric Award – Marsha Ambrosius

During the pre-show, soul singer Marsha Ambrosius took home the first award of the evening.

Video Director of the Year – Chris Robinson

After several years of directing music videos for many hip hop and R&B heavyweights, director Chris Robinson racks up another accolade.

Best International Act: Africa – D’Banj (Nigeria)

D’Banj of Nigeria was one of two rappers to tie for the Best International Act: Africa category.

Best International Act: Africa- 2Face Idibia

2Face Idibia of Nigeria finished tied with his countryman for the award.


Best International Act: UK – Tinie Tempah

British rapper Tinie Tempah represented for all the MCs just across the pond, winning the Best International Act: UK Award.

Best Female R&B Artist – Rihanna

Five chart-topping singles (“S&M,” “What’s My Name?,” “Only Girl [In the World],” “California King Bed,” and “Man Down,”) helped Rihanna seal the deal on winning this award.


Best Male Hip Hop Artist – Kanye West

Yeezy one-upped his peers in the very competitive category of Best Male Hip Hop Artist.

Best Actor – Idris Elba

After joining Jill Scott on stage during her BET Awards performance, Idris Elba also won the award for Best Actor.

Best Actress – Taraji P. Henson

Academy Award nominee Taraji P. Henson continues to dazzle on the silver screen with her charm and raw talent.

Best Movie – For Colored Girls

Tyler Perry’s adaptation of Ntozake Shange’s play For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf was named Best Movie.

State Farm Humanitarian Award – Steve Harvey

Known for his generous donations of both money and time to school children in Los Angeles and Jamaica, comedian and actor Steve Harvey was presented with BET’s Humanitarian Award.

Coca Cola Viewers’ Choice Award – Chris Brown featuring Busta Rhymes and Lil Wayne, “Look at Me Now”

Viewers cast their votes and chose Chris Brown, Busta Rhymes and Lil Wayne’s “Look at Me Now” as their favorite.


Subway Sportswoman of the Year – Serena Williams

Although tennis player Serena Williams has been plagued by injury, missing out on almost a year of play, she’s finally gotten back into the swing of things, reclaiming her game and walking away with BET’s Subway Sportswoman of the Year Award.

Best Gospel – Mary Mary

Featuring two of the most popular voices in gospel, duo Mary Mary walked away with BET’s top honor in the genre.


Subway Sportsman of the Year – Michael Vick

After being off the field for nearly 20 months, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick ran the field this year like he never left, earning him the BET Award for Sportsman of the Year.
